Description

Tajweed Rules for Kids Volume 2 by Manarah Publishing is the second volume in the six-volume Tajweed Rules for Kids Series - the most comprehensive and pedagogically structured Tajweed curriculum available for Muslim children in Grades 1-6. Designed for Grade 2 students who have completed Volume 1, this textbook introduces the first major rule set of Tajweed: the rules governing noon sakinah and tanween. The rules of noon sakinah (a noon with sukun) and tanween (double-vowel endings) are among the most important in all of Tajweed - because noon sakinah and tanween appear hundreds of times in the Quran. Getting these rules right is essential to reading correctly, and getting them wrong introduces errors into nearly every page of recitation. Volume 2 treats these rules with the thoroughness and clarity they deserve.Volume 2 covers the four rules of noon sakinah and tanween:1. Ithhar (Clear Pronunciation): when noon sakinah or tanween is followed by one of the six throat letters (hamzah, ha', 'ayn, ghayn, kha', ha), the noon is pronounced clearly, without any merging or nasal quality. Volume 2 teaches students to identify these letters and apply the ithhar rule with confidence.2. Idgham (Merging): when noon sakinah or tanween is followed by certain letters, the noon merges into the following letter. Volume 2 introduces the distinction between idgham with ghunnah (nasal merging) and idgham without ghunnah, with Quranic examples of each.3. Ikhfa' (Concealment): the most frequently occurring of the four rules - when noon sakinah or tanween is followed by fifteen specific letters, the noon is neither fully pronounced nor fully merged, but held in a nasal position with the mouth prepared for the next letter. Ikhfa' requires careful practice to produce correctly, and Volume 2 gives it substantial attention.4. Iqlab (Changing): when noon sakinah or tanween is followed by ba, the noon transforms into a nasal meem sound. An introduction to iqlab is included in Volume 2, with fuller treatment in Volume 3.All rules are taught through child-friendly explanations, color-coded visual aids, Quranic examples drawn primarily from Juz' Amma, and structured practice exercises designed for Grade 2 learners. By the end of Volume 2, students have a solid, working understanding of the first and most frequently applied rule family in Tajweed.
